Hard to rate this one. Can’t deny the level of effort that went into making this yet I have a big problem with the reasoning behind this remake. It’s truly vile. I get the context around the original film. This movie seems to be more about riding on the title to join the legion of other horrible torture and sexual abuse movies in recent years. That is to say, this movie has nothing to add other than just being plain despicable and mean spirited. Very similar to the Last House on the Left remake.
So yes, this is a well made film but it’s a horrible film to view. Even the revenge / redemption feels hollow. I gotta wonder what it was like for Sarah Butler to sit with an audience and watch this.
