Hard to believe that I’ve never seen this movie until now. Plenty of chances just never made it work. Instead of going down to MBT for a 35mm viewing I opted for the much closer AMC Randhurst for the Fanthom Event. Alarmed that the matinee was $12.50 (moviepass only covers $11.25). Curious how much box office revenue this movie has raked in over the years (adjusted for inflation). The special features after the film ended clearly show the huge success and popularity of the movie.
For me the film is okay, not quite as good as I hoped. Vera-Ellen really steals the movie with her amazing dance sequences. For that I give it a full point bump because she’s mesmerizing to watch. Can totally understand why this movie did well and resonated with audiences at the time.
