Viewing Notes

Have a lot of thoughts about this one. Not sure I feel like capturing them all here. Clearly a troubled production. That’s obvious even if I didn’t follow any of the news leading up to the movie. You can see it onscreen; it’s a patchwork of scenes with elements seemingly missing. Honestly at the end of the movie I really thought that was just the end of Act 2.

Haven’t seen anyone mention that a scene featured prominently in the trailer isn’t even in the finished product (the scene when they drop The Thing from the helicarrier, which also isn’t in the film). Also Kata Mara’s hair changes from scene to scene, sometimes within the same scene, it’s so distracting.

I’d love to see the original movie that Trank keeps referring to in his recent missives that disparage the production and tampering. I know there was a better film in there because all the table setting sets up a weak finale. The worst crime is doing nothing to establish a “team” or “family” value between the four heroes. They intentionally abandon the core principles of what made the comic book so good.

Very weird movie but one I’d revisit. More than I can say about the last two movies which I haven’t seen since they were released.
