Viewing Notes

Yep, a Gaspar Noe film. Honestly, remove all the graphic sex and it’s a pretty simple film about relationships. It’s meta in that Murphy wants to make a movie that Noe has presented to us. Sex as an integral part of love and relationships seems rather obvious but told through Noe’s lens it becomes interesting.

Wasn’t blown away like I was for ENTER THE VOID but I did enjoy watching these young lovers on this journey. The sex is so abundant that by the halfway mark it almost becomes mundane (in the context of this movie). Which is probably part of the point of this; why is sex treated like such a “bad” thing or a taboo when it is such an essential component to relationships.

There were several senior citizens at my 5pm screening that I expected to walk out during the opening scene. Proud that none of them left.
