Cinepocalypse Day 5/Movie 4: the other Veronica horror movie released this year, this one helmed by Paco Plaza [REC]. I dig his framing and eye for shadow play. There’s a wonderful slow turn of the camera that takes the negative space of the apartment block to create an inverted crucifix. It’s a nice touch within this Ouija throwback that elevate what could’ve been easily been derivative. Sandra Escacena is excellent as the young Veronica.
