Viewing Notes

Not gonna count this for Advent but this is a christmas movie by definition (set during Christmas). But not really about Christmas (no one even mentions it despite all the decorations everywhere).

This was super enjoyable and far exceeded my expectations. Dwayne Johnson is basically just doing Dwayne Johnson; he’s gotten pretty good at that character, even here where he’s really just an avatar for a nerd. Kevin Hart is fine. Karen Gillan and Jack Black have all the best scenes and moments. Seriously if I couldn’t love Karen anymore. I love in her seduction scene she channels a little Nebula in her voice.

I’ve never seen the first Jumanji movie but maybe I’ll check it out someday. Just curious how that plays against this modernized version (board game vs video game).
