Always wanted to see this bought the dvd for $2 at HPB but it was full screen. Finally remembered to request from my library network. Didn’t realize this was shot in Australia (takes place in Louisiana so kinda weird they didn’t shoot there).
OH THIS IS A TOURIST TRAP REMAKE
Sounding like a broken record but this is yet another movie that should be programmed in one of the 24hr horror marathons (they shoulda done in 2015 for the 10th anniversary). It would play well to the crowd.
There’s a lot I could say about this but it would be super spoilery. There’s a cast commentary on a featurette that is neat but no commentary track on the film which would’ve been great. Not sure if a Blu exists but this film could use the upgrade. Warner Bros should do that w/a bunch of bonus features. Curious what Paris Hilton thinks of this movie now 13 years later. I like Elisha Cuthbert in the main role. She’s good. That entire finale sequence just looks exhausting but impressive to see.
Only gripe is that this is 15min too long. The entire intro to the cast stuff up front should be excised; just get them to the house of wax after a couple road trip beats. We don’t need all that nonsense trying to get to the game. Also, that alternate opening on extras should’ve have been kept!
