Viewing Notes

For my annual visit to Northbrook Court crossing another potential top 25 off the list. Really really good movie that almost made my top 25… like 26 or 27 overall.

Poignant and frustrating yet heartfelt and beautiful. Narrative aside this movie is gorgeous. Warm light and soft focus. Camera movement, framing and shot comp are sublime.

Quite an experience to view this in a capacity crowd of old rich white people. Woman immediately to my left, her phone starts ringing during the movie and she exclaims, “oh is that my phone??” Like WTF it’s in your purse. Then she can’t find it and it keeps ringing loudly until someone yells “turn off your phone” and she finally gets the phone and SHE ANSWERS THE PHONE. holy fuck. 45 minutes in and she’s asleep and starts snoring. Wakes up for the last 30 minutes and begins sighing loudly. JFC

I hope to never half to visit AMC Northbrook Court again.

Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress: Regina King
