Threw the dubbed version on while I was packing up some things. I love Battra so much. Not as much as Mothra but she’s a nice compliment. Would like to see that kaiju make a return. Great design. Kinda wild to see Akira Takarada here as he’s already old by the time he made this movie back in 1991. By that I mean he looks the same as he does now and that was 29 years ago?? Sure he’s definitely more grey but I shook his hand last month and he looked just like he does in this movie.
One neat thing about this flick is the extensive ocean sequence where Godzilla battles larva Mothra then Battra shows up. I was right there where it was filmed. That huge ocean set no longer exists at Toho but we were taken to the very spot where those scenes were filmed (also those Toho war movies). Just cool to see it in this film.
Lastly I dig the adventure aspect of this w/the Indiana Jones type explorer then the mission to Infant Island. Would be a fun one to see on the big screen.
