Viewing Notes

This is the dumbest installment yet in the FALLEN series, and that’s saying a lot. It’s dumb b/c they clearly thought they were being smart when they wrote the screenplay however so much of this is characters stumbling over plot points and plot devices that only serve to move the story forward but have no basis in logic or common sense or actual criminal investigative work. The worst bit in all of this is how someone so detail oriented as Mike Banning would leave glaring evidence in all these places and yet no one stops to think “why would he leave so much evidence everywhere and have an offshore account with 10M in it.” Just putting it all together any one of those investigators would’ve said, “this is too easy.”

It was obvious from the moment Danny Huston appears (*and* as that particular character) where that was going. But it was so goddamn predictable who was pulling the strings as soon as the President goes into a coma. Like, duh. And ridiculous how that character directly communicates to Huston’s character b/c yeah that’s what they would do.

Ugh. I still give some props for making me laugh and laugh. Glad I had plenty of seats between me and the dudes on the either side of me. Hard to contain myself. I was in hysterics thru that entire final action sequence when Banning gets into the hospital and surrenders and the President is like “bring him to me.” Oh my gosh that is so great… hilarious stuff.

Was also disappointed most of the key characters / actors did not return for this movie except Morgan Freeman. Even Radha Mitchell (Banning’s wife) doesn’t return and is replaced by Piper Perabo. I missed Melissa Leo and Robert Forster.

Thought it was a nice touch to make those militia guys look like dopes when confronted with a real situation.
