Viewing Notes

After viewing the first Resident Evil movie I really wanted to watch this one, which follows up directly after the events in the first movie. Already packed up my blu-ray so fortunately Netflix had this one available, thankfully, to scratch that itch.

This movie has definitely grown on me over time. I recall not liking it much in theater but warming up to it on a rewatch. It has some cool setpieces, the church and the middle school, plus the big battle w/Nemesis then the helicopter attack. I love the blend of high action with horror. I like how this team forms w/Jill Valentine and Carlos and Mike Epps’ character LJ. I don’t believe they return for the next movie except for Oded Fehr (I know Sienna does return eventually in AfterLife). Was also cool to see Zack Ward, whom I didn’t realize was in the movie.

Perhaps the most impressive thing is they gave Milla so much more to do especially in the action department. They juiced up Alice to make her superhuman and delivered on that w/some great stunts. Can’t recall if the Blu has BTS featurettes but I’d like to watch them.
