In watching / researching giallo films recently I landed on this movie and found a very nice version streaming on some random site. Decided to just watch it and I’m not certain this is giallo but it could be? It doesn’t have all the hallmarks but surely contains the components and misdirection. I’m gonna sit on it before I decide.
Anyways, the description on TMDb is so very vague. The premise is a wife of a wealthy businessman (Kinski) dies in a crazy car accident in the main opening sequence (after the title sequence which is an entirely different in medias res car accident). The rest the story is Kinski getting clues that his wife may not in fact be dead. And there is the mystery and whether or not this is true or something else.
Overall I dig this flick. There’s a goofy composite shot in the opening and some rather obvious and hilarious miniature work yet the mystery is good and Kinski is quite reserved and composed as he uncovers more clues. Also I like Annabella Incontrera who doesn’t have a big role but does play a key part. While not a great movie it has it charms including some nice sets and on-location filming in London. Arrow Films released this on Blu last year so maybe I’ll pick it up during one of their sales.
