Viewing Notes

I signed up for the free Noir Alley screening via CYA bc they were presenting their new restoration done by Film Foundation and UCLA. Eddie Muller was hosting along with another noir expert but that person fell sick and was in the hospital (yikes). So it was Eddie providing a nice contextual introduction for the 200 or so folks tuned in. Afterwards he did a Q&A with questions submitted during the film covering the movie and film noir and the work the foundation does along with restoration challenges. Really cool stuff in addition to the movie.

This movie is available on Prime and Kanopy but I don’t know if it’s the new UCLA restoration. Def worth watching bc Eddie was right in his intro; Liz Scott is one ice cold femme fatale! Damn. She’s not a great actor, as was discussed in the Q&A, but she’s good for this role. I really like Kristine Miller who seems way older than 24yo in this film.
