While viewing this I was thinking about the first time I saw it… at a movie night at Ron’s (I believe it was pAT that brought the dvd). Then coincidentally I get a Twitter notification from Ron about our movie nights back in the day. So weird but perfect timing.
This movie is still so bonkers and I forget how bonkers each time I see it. I’m pretty sure this is the first time I’ve seen it with its original Cantonese + English subs. Such a delightful movie that still makes my cringe in a few spots. I love that Oshima was cast as one of the four prison bosses.
