Good old haunted house flick w/a eurohorror slant and Klaus Kinski as Edgar Allan Poe (he only bookends the story). Appears that this is a severely cut version for the US distribution bc the runtime is 90 minutes yet the listed length is 102 minutes so 12 minutes removed. Curious what was cut.
I like Antonio Margheriti films but they are rarely “very good” and usually middling or bad. This is mostly the latter and really only worth viewing for the minimal Kinski sighting and the creepy atmosphere, which is still perfect for the spooky season. Feels like there could’ve been a really cool flick in there but alas. Maybe the longer cut in its original Italian is better?
