I recently got the Film Masters BD for the krimi Creature with the Blue Hand and it also has Web of the Spider. I saw someone review it on LB last week noting not to watch it before Margheriti’s CASTLE OF BLOOD bc this is a remake. Welp friends, I only watched CoB for the first time a couple months ago. And this movie WotS I watched a few years ago. But I was keen to revisit after having watched CoB. And ofc I couldn’t recall a thing about this movie, even Kinski as Edgar Allan Poe.
Strangely, I think it’s worse than my first viewing due to that fact (being a remake of CoB). This is mostly dull and lifeless for a such a fun gothic story. The PQ looks like they just took the DVD transfer so nothing really shines and the colors don’t pop. I still like the movie bc it does star my man Anthony Franciosa with a cool score by Riz Ortolani. And it really is different from CoB just not nearly as good.
