Viewing Notes

Caught the rebroadcast of this via DKUTV. I wanted to see this again and was glad DKUTV screened it again as part of the Mie Hama birthday celebration, the same one Jo ran last year in the same exact order w/the same titles. tbh I only wanted to see the Mie Hama story but let the movie play on to its conclusion as I sorted more trash.

I’m glad this anthology kicks off w/the Tokyo segment bc it is easily the best of the lot. Mie Hama really excels here and it’s unfortunate she didn’t get more drama type roles. She’s great at portraying this grifter and looks super sexy. The other segments should be better given the pedigree on display but they’re mostly ho-hum. I like Jean Seberg a lot in the final Marrakesh segment but that story is so flat.

I’d love to see that Polanski segment that was removed from this release.
