Viewing Notes
Cool movie that has escaped me a few times. Didn’t realize it was a 2014 release (that it was more current). When Kwai Lun-Mei appears I wondered if this was by the same director as WILD GOOSE LAKE. Yep! Has a similar style, look/feel. She’s excellent of course (I’ve loved her from her roles in the Tsui Hark’s films she’s done as well as WGL).
While this isn’t quite as strong as WGL it’s still a captivating watch especially for the locations, characters, and mystery. Wish I could’ve seen both these films in the big screen. Love the use of color and light (or lack of). It did make me wanna revisit WGL but that’ll have to wait.
