Broke my Johnnie To rewatch seal bc I saw this on the Cinephobe.tv schedule. Hard to pass up when this flick is OOP and might be hard to obtain now, even a foreign edition. Not sure what the source was for the Cinephobe broadcast but it was pretty damn murky, which isn’t good for a movie that’s already darkly lit for most of the runtime. Man, I wish one of these boutique labels would release all these To films. Guessing more than half aren’t available anymore.
This one has gotten better for me over time. Suppose it could be considered anti-heroic bloodshed. Some crazy setpieces that deserve to be seen by a wider audience.
