Second film in our unplanned yet intentional Unearthed Films double feature for 31 Days of Horror. This is definitely a horror movie, extreme horror. Seriously wasn’t expected a red film based on the description but shouldn’t be surprised if Unearthed is handling distribution. After viewing a few red films and watching the Very Good Documentary about them at Nightmares FF back in 2019 I’ve determined that they just aren’t my thing. I can appreciate the craft but don’t need to watch it.
This movie definitely excels in the practical graphic FX but whoa this story is the pits. As I declared to Ron when it was over, this is like a super extreme Christian scare movie. And unless it is ironically silly I’m no fan of those. Plus this premise is just dumb. This is one of those times where the director should’ve had another writer handle the screenplay or just come up with a different story altogether. Kind of a shame to spend the energy and effort on all those realistic gore FX for a story this awful.
