Overview

While participating in a contest at a local newspaper in which school children are asked to submit a news story, local attorney Carson Drew’s daughter Nancy intercepts a real story assignment. She “covers” the inquest of the death of a woman who was poisoned. Nancy doesn’t think the young woman accused of the crime is guilty and corrals her neighbor Ted into searching for a vital piece of evidence and stumbles onto the identity of the real killer.

Decided to watch another of the oldie Nancy Drew flicks since they’re short and generally entertaining. This one has the Chinese restaurant sequence which you might think would be distasteful given the era but it’s actually done well. TIL I learned that Bonita Granville (Nancy Drew) was only 16 when she made these movies. ::mind blown:: I truly thought she was in her early 20s. She’s so good I’m even more impressed now.
