Overview

Young Dee Renjie arrives in the empire’s capital to join the Supreme Court as police judge of his region. He wants to become a prosecutor. This movie is so ridiculous. When you think it can’t get more ridiculous Tsui Hark says “I can make it more ridiculous!” And that’s cool but he steps back in and says, “wait, there’s even more ridiculous!!” I love him for that.

After finally watching DD and the Phantom Flame I wanted to revisit the other DD films I’ve seen. Really wish I owned this one on Blu-ray bc it’s a hoot. Speculating that bc Andy Lau didn’t return as the titular character they took this story and just made a prequel.

Juts nonstop action and fantasy and action and straight up weird giant monster shit. And good lord Angelababy. This movie has it all. I need these on 4K UHD!
