Viewing Notes

This movie checks all the boxes and yet so entertaining. Probably a 9/10 experience saddled by a goofy paint-by-the-numbers “let’s get all the predictable story beats crammed into this thing” filmmaking. But sometimes that’s perfectly fine and still damn good filmmaking. Was waiting for my capacity audience to start chanting “U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A!”

It really is a love letter to Tony Scott and the original film, esp. since it lifts so many of the same plot points. Yes, I enjoyed the hell outta this flick and cried a few times. The IMAX sequences were astounding. Would love to see this again in IMAX with a lot less people. If my 7pm Tuesday screening is any indication, hopefully it will keep the IMAX screen for a while.
