Viewing Notes

Third film in our movie night and another recent acquisition for Ron from Imprint Films. We watched the director’s cut which I had never seen before. It’s interesting but also distracting. I grew up with theatrical cut so it will always be my choice. This is easily the best looking PQ I’ve seen for this movie, which most of my viewings were on a tiny tv back in the day. The 35mm print I saw at Patio Theater was so washed out and pink. Oddly I’ve not see a DCP of this nor can recall if this has screened at any of the theaters in Chicago during my time there (besides those ill-fated 35mm screenings).

Not sure if this is still available but I’d like to get this release or just the theatrical cut. Then again, I’ve rarely watched this movie in the last few decades because it’s so engrained in my brain from watching it as a kid. Every single moment of this movie I know as if I just watched it within the last hour. So wild to be so close to a movie but this is definitely one that had a huge impact on me as a kid.
