This is the Andy Lau movie of the week for DriveInMob’s Andy Laugust month.
I don’t recall much about the first GoG film which I got on a cheapie DVD back in the early days but this is really a very loose sequel and a rather absurd buddy comedy. The premise is silly, too. But you gotta credit Lau and Stephen Chow for giving 100 percent and making this entertaining.
This series including the spoof that Chow did, which his character here is from, are another missing piece from all the recent upgrades and releases. Especially the original GoG with Chow Yun-Fat. Like shouldn’t all his films be accessible at this point?
Decided while viewing this movie that Andy Lau is the Kevin Bacon of the HK version of six degrees. Lau has worked with nearly every contemporary during his long career and is likely only an actor or two removed from the generations before him.

Oh also wanted to note that I am sad that Stephen Chow no longer acts in film while Andy Lau continues. Both have an undeniable onscreen presence and Chow is sorely missed.
