Just like the previous movie but one hour longer. Most of the violence is at the same level as the first movie except for one centerpiece sequence that is unreal. I like the protagonist but what is the deal here: is she in college along with her local friends? Is it a community college? None look like high school kids. They go to a bar on Halloween night and order alcohol. It’s not clear and annoyed me.
Another thing: why would a local carnival not be operating in the evening when it’s all decked out in Halloween decorations? Like wouldn’t that be the prime time for a carnival to be open? It’s shit like that plus the 2.5 hour runtime that hold this back from outdoing the first movie.
Coffman noted that Leone should’ve released this cut on Blu-ray and made a more palatable cut for theatrical; keep his audiences wanting more and give a reason to seek out the physical release. I agree.
I like this movie and the gusto of the full on brutal violence but I’m not watching it again bc it’s two and half hours long. It doesn’t earn that runtime. Frankly, no slasher movie could tbh.
