Viewing Notes

This extended edition at 2+ hours, I can feel the runtime esp. with the stuff that really doesn’t move the story along or just feels unnecessary. I wonder if I have seen this “long” version prior to this; maybe I had just seen the HK release which runs twenty minutes shorter. Pretty sure that’s what I’ve seen previously.

Bugs me even more what they do to May in these films but Maggie still manages to make more out of a thankless role. The story and a good portion of the movie is about a 6 but the few stellar action sequences pushes it up. That final setpiece is still incredible.

First time I noticed that Lau Ching-Wan has a small part as one of the cops that tries to arrest Chan’s Ka Kui. Wondered if this scene is in the standard 100 minute release so I guess I’ll have to revisit that sometime soon.
