Viewing Notes

Sequel Day! for the last day of Junesploitation so I selected this not realizing it’s a prequel! What?! Was about 20 or so minutes into this when I figured it out but w/e it’s still labeled as #2 so that’s good enough. It was Robin Chou returning as 14K that got thinking it was a prequel bc he dies in the previous film.

This takes a while to get going and I wasn’t into all The Death match fighting nonsense. It gets good when the racing starts but it’s not shot very well in this movie compared to the Statham film (directed by Paul W.S. Anderson). But it’s serviceable and okay. The creation of Frankenstein is p cool along with the finale to make this much better after the weak setup in the first half. I love that Ving Rhames continued to star in films like this while he was making the M:I films. True genre actor.
