Happy 20th Anniversary to this under-appreciated and probably ill advised remake. Had to fire up HBO MAX bc I couldn’t find my DVD. I got a whole mess of DVDs I can’t find and now I wonder if there’s still a bunch in storage.
Anyways I felt like viewing it on its release day since so many ppl were chatting about it today. I hadn’t seen it since it’s release and we saw it in IMAX in Lincolnshire (we didn’t know it was IMAX and we didn’t pay more for the ticket). That was a weird experience seeing Jessica Biel 50ft tall. I wonder if they still have that original A/R IMAX screen.
Those two things were the only things I recalled… oh and R. Lee Ermey ofc. But I knew I didn’t hate it. So this was a very good revisit. Definitely holds up and still quite vicious. Really the main drawback is they made it as a remake rather than sequel. How do you remake one of the greatest horror movies of all time. You don’t. Had this been a sequel set a year later it would’ve worked so much better.

Holy shit assuming the log date is correct, I saw this on opening day exactly 20 years ago. They should’ve rereleased this in theaters today.
