Viewing Notes
aka Breakaway, which makes no sense
Ninth film of the Holiday Mind Melter and perhaps my favorite of the bunch. It’s set in Chicago yet filmed almost entirely in Winnipeg. The former Chicago Place shopping mall is the scene of the crime and action but ofc doesn’t look at all like it’s depicted here. Stars Dean Cain when he was still cool and Eric Roberts as his nemesis. Also has Baywatch babe Erika Eleniak in the thankless role of cop’s wife. The entire movie is so hilarious and full of action that includes a SxS chase thru tunnels under the mall. The ending is so stupid, too. I was cackling.
Someone really missed the boat by not screening this in Chicago while I was there. This would be a blast to watch in a packed Chicago theater.
