Viewing Notes

Never bothered to watch this when it came it bc I heard bad things and that it really paled in comparison the original. I don’t think I’ve seen the original or I’ve forgotten it. Wanted to view this now bc of Stallone. the handful reviews are mostly on point; this isn’t all that good despite the solid assembled cast (early roles for a lot of these actors; weird Gretchen Mol isn’t even credited). Feels oddly flat throughout, like devoid of intensity even during the “intense” scenes. Kinda like everyone going thru the motions. Like a fight between Rourke and Stallone should have more weight. I give it a small bump for Stallone emoting w/Rachael Leigh Cook’s character. I like when he gets emotional in films.

I wanna see the original now then I’ll probably watch this again to compare.

IT HAPPENED AGAIN!!! So this movie has both Rhona Mitra and Mickey Rourke, both of whom I didn’t know were in the movie. I *just* watched them in two separate films in the past week: Rourke in SECTION 8 and Mitra in HARD TARGET 2 (oddly enough both Scott Adkins films). So weird this continues to happen.

oh I just watched Miranda Richardson in Fred Claus so I guess that counts as well.
