Not a live action Demon City Shinjuku, sadly. But…
Very much a live action anime** or manga*. Everything so exaggerated and over the top. It’s fine and perhaps a little too mean spirited but it could grow on me. Hate to use the overused comparison but basically a John Wick story. Often goofy, too, but I was viewing it like it was an anime OVA (having watched Midnight Eye recently) and it works on the level. Just cracks me up that IMDb lists this as “supernatural-thriller” and “supernatural-fantasy” haha
Fun seeing Naoto Takenaka in the opening scene. He’s in everything. Once it pops up on a Chinese BD I may buy this title because I do like the action beats (same Action Director / stunt coordinator from CITY HUNTER and Alice in Borderland: Takashi Tanimoto, works under Yuji Shimomura).
