I like the commitment to the bit, which isn’t easy to pull off esp. when doing period (here a combo of the early 90s and 2010-11). Wondered if it’s more trouble / intensive to do produce a film this way over just a narrative set in period.
It loses me in the final act when it lays on the cosmic witchcraft pretty thick. It’s already out there with serial killer and ritualistic nature of his killing. The anchor to reality loosens as it goes along.
I was so tired by the end that I didn’t stick around for the post-credits scene. Some guys behind even mentioned it but I was struggling to stay awake by that point. Hopefully this pops up on Shudder or someplace and I’ll watch it again.
side note: got a LOL when they black out the dead dog photo but from the start they show super grisly crime photos of people all mutilated and whatnot. haha
