THE UNDISCOVERED COUNTRY is a fitting end for the Original Series crew. It manages to weave together successfully all of the elements of the good TREK movies and episodes to deliver a final, satisfying chapter for the crew.
The writers managed to infuse a real moral problem in the movie, and give it weight. What would you do if your bitterest enemy were facing extinction? Would you let them die, or try to make them your ally? Naturally, Kirk and crew rise above to choose the latter, but it gives you a moment of pause to think, “What would I do?” That moral quandary is the best in the film series and one of the best in Trekdom.
