Viewing Notes

A really strong Shaw Brothers Wuxia film from the early ‘70s with some great action sequences, including a bit of wire-fu here and there.

The action is more serious and not quite as absurd as some of these films get at times. Filmed both on set and on location, the two are oddly mixed at times. It doesn’t matter much except that the two are pretty starkly contrasted and it can be slightly jarring.

This is another ‘reluctant hero’ movie, where King Eagle tries really hard to mind his own damn business, which means he spends most of the film muddling around in everyone else’s damn business.

Deadly fingers Wan Hua Ba is easily one of the coolest villains ever! Even his eyebrows are evil.

This probably makes my top ten of Shaw Brothers movies.

Based on your comments I’m excited to see this one. Wasn’t on my radar but I’ve already decided to catch up with the better titles you’ve rated from this project. Some of which I already own.

(also you should tag these as “shaw brothers” =)

I know, I keep forgetting! I’ll go back through all of these from this project and add the tag soon.
