An amazingly unsettling piece of cinema buoyed by an excellent performance from Johansson. The sound design and score added a lot to the mood of the film as well. There’s a lot to process, and not much dialogue, which leads me to want to watch this again.
Much like Glazer’s Birth, this is a movie that sticks in your subconscious. And mirroring my experience with Birth, I was completely enthralled and disturbed. It’s interesting that two of his feature film efforts have provided such amazing roles for two leading women (Nicole Kidman in Birth and Johansson here).
As an aside, a total of four people walked out during the movie, two close to the end. I’ll never understand people who do that.
