Viewing Notes

Glad to get the chance to revisit this. I was underwhelmed by SPECTRE after the excellent SKYFALL when I saw it in the theater but I must say it rates pretty closely on second viewing.

Watching it at home on a smaller screen but with a great sound system enabled me to notice details about the storyline that escaped me on first viewing. Overall it felt more coherent this time around. I was also able to really appreciate the amazing soundtrack, especially during the opening scene in Mexico City. I can’t wait to screen this in the home theater once its finished.

When this was released I was right in the middle of viewing the early Bond films up to Live and Let Die. Spectre is so similar in pacing and story beats to those 60s films that it didn’t bother me that it wasn’t as good as Skyfall or even better Casino Royale. I often wanted to re-watch in theater.
