Caught the matinee in the Atmos theater and it was one of the worst movie experiences I’ve had out here in Colorado. Sat next to a group of eight people who had a four year old with them that bounced all over his seat, yelled, etc. To top it off, the adult next to us decided it was perfectly fine to use his cell phone for the last five minutes of the movie. After about a minute Tonia asked him to turn it off.
Because of that, I’ll need to watch it again but I really liked it. I think it’s nearly impossible to pull off a dramatic film with massive CGI and mo-cap but, damn if they didn’t do it. I wasn’t expecting a movie so focused on character development and storytelling; you kind of expect them to spend all that SFX money of explosions and big battles. While there was some of that, it really just provided a backdrop for the story. Very refreshing and an amazing feat.

Very telling that we lead with the experience when it’s bad. I’ve done so many times here. At least you have a wonderful home theater on which to revisit this. I would’ve gotten up and moved even if it was reserved seating… or asked for a refund. It’s wild bc I’ve brought minor issues to the front desk and rec’d a free pass. Definitely would’ve done it in your situation.
Saw WAR last night and sat in the front row of stadium (behind the rail). There was a older guy 5 seats away that kept checking his brightly lit phone. Super annoying but not nearly what you experienced. It bothered me mostly bc this guy was of the age to know what it was like to not have mobile phones and should know better.

Tonia complained after the film and they seemed pretty clueless about what they should have done. It’s only the second time we’ve had a bad experience and the first time in that theater. The Atmos theater is so much more expensive that normally people are there because they actually want to see the movie in a great environment.
Made me appreciate my home theater even more!
