Viewing Notes

I wish Lee had put as much effort into the story as he did the technology. My screening was the equivalent of watching this on VHS probably. 2D, non-Dolby, etc. We went to the 10:40 AM screening only because that was the only time it was playing on a semi-large screen. All other showings for the rest of the day were on the smallest screen. Weird.

It was fun watching Winstead kick some ass in the first third of the film but was disappointed that she got sidelined for a good portion of the rest of the movie (final action set piece aside). Looking forward to seeing her in BIRDS OF PREY when it comes out.

So I stepped into a standard viewing of it at my theater in-between movies. It didn’t look bad, just like a normal movie. But one noticeable thing was how weak the story and setups are (I walked in when Junior takes MEW hostage in the catacombs). It’s all very sloppy and I’m wondering if I was more favorable in my original rating b/c the HFR distracted me from the shoddy script.

I had forgotten MEW is in Birds of Prey but yeah I hope she gets some cool action beats.
