Viewing Notes

Happy I got to see this in a theater and happy the screening was pretty full. Starting a 3-1/2 hour movie at 8 PM was fun.

This feels like a great epilogue (an rebuttal?) to a career of making gangster films in the same way that Eastwood’s THE UNFORGIVEN did. It feels like Scorsese reputing any sense that his earlier work glamorized the mob.

Pesci is a huge standout in this; I’d be surprised if he doesn’t get a supporting actor nod.

Glad you could see it on the big screen! I’ve been anxiously awaiting for this to hit the Pickwick, which it’s supposedly gonna be there next Friday. It’s only screened at the two Landmark theaters, neither convenient for me.

Was there an intermission for this?

Nope, no intermission. Definitely didn’t feel nearly as long as it is.
