Viewing Notes

So weird to be back in a theater. I was originally going to see TENET tonight but then work gave us Friday off so I decided to move TENET to a matinee on Friday with less people in it. And so PENINSULA it was.

Felt like an odd mix of 28 WEEKS LATER, DOOMSDAY and I AM LEGEND. Doesn’t have much to do with the original except for the back story. It sloshes around in melodrama a bit too much and the overwhelming amount of CGI takes away from the fun a bit (real car chases and wrecks are always going to be better than CGI car chases) but overall I enjoyed it enough.

There were a total of eight people including myself in the theater and in general, the AMC felt pretty empty. There was one couple in line for concessions and one person I passed on the way to my theater and that was it, aside from the people in my screening. Wearing a mask was fine except it’s difficult to not fog up my glasses a bit.

Welcome back! :)

It’s been touch and go for me but always a bit anxious for any screening now. I’ve got a TENET matinee today that’s worrisome bc I’ve seen how much the other showtimes have filled up during the week.

So did you reactivate for AList?

Yeah, I decided to reactivate it. Theaters just opened up here in the last two weeks but I didn’t want to go until both kids were back to school to minimize the risk. So PENINSULA last night, TENET matinee today and THE EIGHT HUNDRED tomorrow.

Only one of the Drafthouse locations is open. Not sure if the Sie Film Center is open yet or not.

The last film I saw in an AMC before shit went sideways was THE INVISIBLE MAN. The last film I saw in a theater at all until this week was a rep screening of THE THING at Alamo.

I haven’t reactivated mine yet and not sure when I will. Was fortunate to have the $10 credit AMC gave us plus the leftover credits on my acct (used those for INCEPTION and PENNISULA). Had some vouchers for free tickets that I hadn’t used so one of those went for TENET. I suppose it’s a good thing there hasn’t been a lot of new movies that I care about seeing in a theater. I would’ve gone for MULAN.
