Viewing Notes

I was originally going to see this on Saturday but too many people bought tickets after me so I cancelled and rescheduled for tonight. Glad I did, as there were only three other people in the theater, which was much better.

I knew this would be full of melodrama and nationalism, which induced some eyerolling for me, but overall I’m ok with that. Definitely a politically charged film for China given that the soldiers were from the Nationalist army who opposed the Communists before (and after) WWII.

The action scenes are really well done but the melodrama gets to be too much at times, overwhelming the pace of the story. I know there have been a few other movies based on this historical event; I wouldn’t mind tracking them down and watching them.

Kind of odd that two out of my first three films back in theaters have been foreign language films, but other than rep screenings to draw people back into theaters, the pickings have been a little slim.

I’ll probably try to catch THE NEW MUTANTS this weekend if the crowds are thin.

I really wondering if AMC is gonna remain open bc with so few new releases and the terrible box office that TENET experienced, it seems like they are bleeding from overhead expenses.

Yeah, thinking the same thing. With all the releases pushed back not even sure if there’s gonna be enough movies to watch to justify having re-activated A-List.
