Discovered that there’s a bunch of Chaplin stuff on the TCM section of MAX so I decided to fill some holes. This one’s a heart-melter as well as a comedy. Kind of amazing that this was released in 1931 when sound was really taking off in movies. He acknowledges that at the beginning before firmly dismissing it and holding to the silent film formula that worked so well for him in the past.
