Overview

A rich woman and a calculating insurance agent plot to kill her unsuspecting husband after he signs a double indemnity policy. Against a backdrop of distinctly Californian settings, the partners in crime plan the perfect murder to collect the insurance, which pays double if the death is accidental.

Stanwick eats the screen up as the scheming housewife opposite Fred MacMurray playing against type; both feasting on some great dialogue from Raymond Chandler. Beautifully shot.

Way overdue for a revisit on this one. Was lukewarm on it but I have a feeling my opinion will change after 15 years and thousands of movies later haha

Yeah,  I felt the same way. I remember being kind of underwhelmed by it originally.
