A woman seemingly dies of fright after participating in a séance where she sees a vision of a Dunwich priest hanging himself in a church cemetery. New York City reporter Peter Bell investigates and learns that the priest’s suicide has somehow opened a portal to Hell and must be sealed by All Saints Day, or else the dead will overtake humanity.

OK, I lied. *This* was the film I most wanted to see at the Music Box Massacre 7, the 9th feature film of the event. My favorite Fulci and a nostalgic favorite having seen it the theater upon its original US release as Gates of Hell. I adore this film. And it was so great to see again on the big screen after all these years. I recently picked up the Arrow Blu but held off viewing b/c of this event.
It’s just crazy through and through with a beautiful score and effects. Toss in Christopher George and it’s a total winner. Need to a make this an annual viewing.
