G-FEST has got me in the mood to view more unseen kaiju films. I once tried to watch this but was turned off by the English dub on the Columbia release. Hoped to have a JP version but haven’t found one yet. Dub isn’t that bad and at least the fairy songs are in native Japanese.
More of a family film but still a full-on monster showdown when Death Ghidorah is released. Not a great film but still entertaining for the excellent kaiju work esp. Ghidorah’s fire breathing. Little disappointed in the fairy twins; they just went with a new direction for them rather than have them be like The Peanuts.
Curious why they decided to “rebirth” Mothra after the 1992 film with Godzilla. Seems like this film should have predated that one. I’m a huge fan of the original film but this is a nice reboot even if the comedy beats don’t work. Would have loved this movie as a child.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen this, strangely enough.

I’ve had it for a long time and never bothered when I realized it was dubbed. But with kaiju on my mind I decided to give it a spin. Not bad. Worth it for the final battle (as in most cases).

Heh, very true! Now that I think about it I think I watched it with the kids when they were pretty young.
