Viewing Notes

“Another Shaw Production”

Sleazy Shaw is sleazy. First half of this movie I was oh hum, not very good. By the middle I was oh wow it’s going there, huh? By the end, WTF.

Pretty wild that Shaw went in this direction w/their films. And here I thought the BLACK MAGIC movies were sleazy. This is lots of full female nudity that leads to rape that turns into something far darker until it goes into full DEAD ALIVE mode.

It’s screening at the NYAFF this month and I can’t even imagine what it will be like in that room. I give this movie a full point bump for being so crazy. Mi Tien (Fang’s wife) is also pretty sexy even possessed. Not sure how no one questions that she gets insta-pregnant.

recap: adultery / nudity / rape—> necrophilia—> batshit insanity.

Gotta love the waning days of the Shaw empire. What a weird time in Hong Kong cinema!

Exactly. This is not a good movie by any stretch but damn does it go for it. So bizarre and weird.

So this was already in my Netflix DVD queue, but I just moved it way up, along with a few others of the same ilk. I could use some crazy ‘80s stuff as a break from a lot of the other more recent films I’ve been watching.

This would’ve been a great movie night flick. Just looking at the tags makes me smile. Hope you dig it.
