Viewing Notes

Sixth movie at The Massacre with Douglas McKeown there to introduce and do a Q&A. Also fits for my 31 in 31 Challenge having not seen it until now. Man, I *love* this movie. I’m a little sad that I haven’t seen this before since so much of it really hits my sweet spot. The kid with his room decorated in horror posters and images plus having the Godzilla Shogun Warrior *and* alien Micronauts?! I saw Reptos and Membros on his shelf. Plus he’s a avid reader of Famous Monsters magazine. Totally me at that same period of time.

The movie borrows plenty of ideas and conventions from previous films but delivers them in a nice package with excellent practical effects and terror. The gore is done super well. Also a few unexpected surprised that really bump this b-movie up a level. It’s unfortunate a widescreen release doesn’t exist for this movie (unless that foreign blu-ray is). I’d love to own this one.

Fun chat with McKeown about the props and creating a believable setting for his characters. Really nice guy!
