Viewing Notes

Firstly, it’s nuts that my library carries this movie. I attribute that to some weirdo in the buying department, which I say that lovingly. This person buys so many wild films including all the recent Godzilla blu-rays and plenty of other under the radar items. Glad to have them at my library.

Secondly, given I’ve heard/seen on this film it’s amazing how bad it really is. Bad in a bad way. Giving it 5/10 is being kind. I do so because of it’s insanity and ambition to be a full exploitation film covering all the bases. Even though it half-asses most of it. Initially I regretted putting off viewing for so long but now I’m indifferent.

The movie is way too long for starters (note: I thought the runtime was well over 100 minutes; it’s not. It just feels like that). Way too slow to manage any emotion or impact. Every device feels forced or wedged in to “cover all the bases”. Nothing organic here other than to succeed making a exploitation werewolf movie. I’m sure there was good intent and they reached for it (hence my rating) but otherwise just not good. I’d probably fall asleep in a theater watching this.

I believe this Rated-X (not really) movie could easily be remade into something hella more interesting and compact than what’s here. Really too bad given its reputation.
