My 5th time viewing on the big screen? In fact I’ve only seen this movie on the big screen. I recently bought new the Blu so I’ll likely fire it up again within the year bc I adore this movie so much. I will say that seeing this with a capacity crowd tonight was the best viewing of it given energy in the room. People were really into it.
The pre-screening lecture w/the professor from Notre Dame was weak. I suppose if you didn’t know a thing about Miyazaki or Studio Ghibli or Japanese animation it might be a little worthwhile. But it was clearly geared to first time viewers of anything Miyazaki.
Tonight was likely my last visit to Film Center before it closes next week. Crazy they are shutting down the entire theater for renovations until first week of January. It definitely needs. Those seats and seating arrangement suck. Look forward to the updates.
